Institute for Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Landscape Management

Bioinstitut, o.p.s. (public benefit organisation) based in Olomouc, was founded in 2004 to create an umbrella for research and educational activities in the area of Czech organic agriculture and within Central and Eastern Europe. Its co-founders and partners are the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, The Czech Association of Organic Farmers PRO-BIO and Palacky University Olomouc, Czech Republic.

Main activities of Bioinstitut: organic farming development through consultancy; transfer of science and research findings into practice; education, training and publication activities; promotion of sector towords professionals and the public; communication needs of the sector at national administration. 

Bioinstitut is coordinator of the Czech Technology Platform for Organic Agriculture and a member of FiBL International - internationa association of research institutions in the field of organic farming. The association was founded in February 2010 at BioFach in Nuremberg. Particular goals of the association are directed to the development of science and research of organic farming with respect to environmental and socio-economic aspects as well as on human and animal health.

We perceive organic farming is the only controlled and legislatively defined methods of sustainable agricultrue in the Czech Republic which doses not fulfill only the productive functions, but also a number of non-production functions supporting sustainable rural development, biodiversity, landscape and sustainable food production.
