FiBL, Frick, Switzerland

The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, Frick (Switzerland) is a private institute coordinated by a foundation with the same name and established by organic farmers and consumers in 1973. Today it is the largest research institute within the organic sector in Europe and one of the leading competence centres for research and consultancy on organic agriculture in the world. FiBL has long been committed to the international development of organic agriculture (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements IFOAM, International Organic Accreditation Service IOAS and International Society of Organic Agriculture Research ISOFAR etc.). Numerous FiBL projects in Eastern Europe, India, Latin America and Africa promote the development of organic research services as well as advisory and certification services. FiBL has two sister-institutes FiBL Germany and FiBL Austria. In the Czech Republic, FiBL together with the PRO-BIO and Palacky University Olomouc initiated the founding of Bioinstitut, o.p.s. In the way, practically focused experiences is transferred into the Czech Republic. FiBL and its network of research institutes are the traditionally important professional guarantor of Bioacademy, where FiBL specialists present their work.

PRO-BIO Association of Organic Farmers, Šumperk

The PRO-BIO Association is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation that supports and promotes ecological methods of farming and the use of organic food in the Czech Republic. The association has 10 regional centres within the whole country and two specialized branches focusing on organic food sale and work with consumers. The Association represents the interests of its members: ecological farmers, processors and traders of organic food as well as schools and consumers, and creates favourable conditions for dialogue and co-operation. PRO-BIO supports the development of ecological farming and ecological education. PRO-BIO is also an active partner for state authorities within implementation of agro-environmental policy. It is the main organizer of European Summer Academy on the Organic Farming – Bioacademy, the international conference held every year in the Czech Republic.
